West Ham have reached an agreement with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal for the sale of winger Crysencio Summerville, in a deal understood to be worth around £68 million (€80m). The move comes after West Ham rejected a considerably lower £39 million (€46m) offer from Roma just a day earlier, with the Serie A club having been in talks over the Netherlands international for some time.
How the Deal Came Together
News of Al Hilal’s interest first emerged via Sky in Italy on Tuesday afternoon, and the Saudi club’s offer — worth close to double Roma’s initial £39 million proposal — was accepted by West Ham without much delay. It’s a notable outcome given Roma had been working on a deal with the Hammers beforehand, only to be gazumped by a much larger late offer from the Middle East.
A Significant Sale for West Ham
Should the transfer be completed, Summerville would become the third-highest sale in West Ham’s history, behind only Declan Rice and Mateus Fernandes. Combined with Fernandes’ own £85 million move to Tottenham earlier in the window, West Ham will have raised more than £150 million from player sales this summer alone — a significant war chest for a club now playing in the Championship following relegation.
Manchester United had also shown interest in Summerville among Premier League suitors, but those discussions never advanced beyond early, exploratory conversations. Any potential move was understood to hinge on United first selling Marcus Rashford this summer, a deal that hasn’t yet materialised.
Summerville’s Form for West Ham and Netherlands
Summerville made 34 appearances for West Ham in the 2025/26 season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, with eight goals and 56 appearances to his name in total across his time at the club. He also enjoyed a productive World Cup with the Netherlands, playing in all four of their matches and contributing two goals and two assists.
