Manchester United have officially completed the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50 million confirming what had been building since the transfer window opened and handing Michael Carrick his first permanent signing as head coach at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old Brazilian international arrives at one of the most consequential moments in United’s recent history a summer of wholesale midfield reconstruction that is reshaping the entire engine room of the club. And Santos, according to those inside Carrick’s camp, is not merely the first piece of that rebuild. He is one of the most important.
The Deal: Structure, Sell-On Clause and Timing
The transfer is structured as a guaranteed £48 million payment plus £2 million in achievable add-ons bringing the total potential fee to £50 million. Chelsea negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement, retaining a meaningful financial stake in Santos’ long-term development.
