Portugal vs Norway Prediction: Team News, Form and Betting Tips

By SHADRACK BIWOT  ·  October 4, 2026  ·  4 min read

Our Portugal vs Norway prediction is a home win for Portugal, but with Norway finding the net, when the sides meet again in Porto on Sunday night. Portugal have won all three Nations League games so far, including a 2-1 win in Oslo last weekend, while Norway have scored in every match of the campaign.

Kick-off at the Estadio do Dragao is at 21:45 EAT, and a Portugal win would put them in a commanding position at the top of Group A4.

Portugal vs Norway prediction: form guide

Portugal: perfect start under Jorge Jesus

Jorge Jesus could hardly have asked for a better beginning as Portugal coach. His side edged Wales 1-0, won 2-1 in Oslo on 27 September and then produced their most impressive display yet with a 4-2 victory in Denmark on Thursday. Nine points from nine leaves Portugal six clear of the rest of the group.

The win in Denmark showed a team growing in confidence in attack, although conceding twice will give Jesus something to work on. Cristiano Ronaldo was named in his first squad, and Portugal have a deep pool of attacking talent to choose from for a home game they will expect to control. Reports in Portugal suggest Francisco Conceicao has been assessed after a thigh problem, so his involvement is worth checking when the line-ups are released.

Norway: dangerous but inconsistent

Norway opened the campaign with an entertaining 3-2 win over Denmark, but they have lost both games since, going down 2-1 at home to Portugal and then 2-1 in Wales on Thursday night. That leaves them level on three points with Denmark and Wales, and a third straight defeat would leave them with plenty to do in the second half of the group phase.

The positive for Stale Solbakken is that his side keep scoring. Erling Haaland is expected to lead the line, and any team with a striker of his quality always has a chance. The issue has been at the other end, with Norway conceding twice in each of their last two matches.

Head to head

Portugal have dominated this fixture over the years, and they won the most recent meeting 2-1 in Oslo just a week before this rematch. Norway will need to be far more solid defensively if they are to get anything in Porto.

Team news

Portugal

No major injuries have been confirmed. Francisco Conceicao is reported to have needed an assessment on a thigh issue. Jesus may make changes after a demanding win in Denmark three days earlier.

Norway

Haaland is expected to start. Solbakken may freshen up a defence that has conceded four goals in the last two games, and confirmed line-ups will be out roughly an hour before kick-off.

Prediction

Portugal are at home, unbeaten in the group and full of confidence after scoring four in Denmark. They also beat Norway on their own ground last weekend, so they know they have the tools to hurt this side. However, Norway have scored in all three of their Nations League games and have a striker capable of punishing any lapse, so a clean sheet for the hosts is far from guaranteed.

Our pick: Portugal to win and both teams to score. Predicted score: Portugal 2-1 Norway.

If you prefer a simpler bet, Portugal to win is the main angle, while over 2.5 goals also looks reasonable given both sides’ recent games. Prices can move once line-ups are confirmed, so check the latest odds on JetBet before you bet.
