De Zerbi turned to his bench by bringing on James Maddison and Dominic Solanke, but Tottenham’s forward line remained completely isolated. Brentford comfortably saw out the final half-hour, taking all three points to extend their unbeaten home opening-day run to seven consecutive seasons.
