Le Havre 1-5 PSG was the Achraf Hakimi show. The Paris Saint-Germain captain scored the first hat-trick of his professional career and set up two more goals as the champions came from behind to thrash bottom side Le Havre on Friday night. The win keeps PSG top of Ligue 1 with 20 points from nine games.
It was a remarkable night for a right-back. Hakimi had a hand in all five PSG goals, and he did it in a rotated side missing several key players through injury.

How the Match Unfolded
Le Havre, who started the night bottom of the table, actually struck first. Rayan Fofana teed up Josh Maja in the 18th minute and the home crowd briefly dreamed of a famous upset.
It lasted eight minutes. Hakimi raced forward and set up Mika Godts for the equaliser in the 26th minute, and two minutes later the captain was on the scoresheet himself, finishing after a pass from Senny Mayulu. PSG led 2-1 at the break and never looked back.
Ten minutes into the second half, Hakimi curled in a direct free kick to make it 3-1. He then turned provider again on 62 minutes, sending Mayulu through to round goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart and roll the ball into an empty net. The hat-trick arrived in the 69th minute: Godts found Hakimi in the box, Bodart saved the first attempt and the Moroccan buried the rebound.
Hakimi was taken off soon afterwards with the job done, and PSG saw out the final 20 minutes comfortably.
Hakimi: Defender or Forward?
Three goals and two assists in one game is a huge return for any player, never mind a full-back. Luis Enrique was full of praise after the match, describing Hakimi in comments reported in France as more of an attacker than a defender when PSG have the ball, and calling him the best right-back in the world. The PSG coach also said he was most impressed by how consistently Hakimi performs at the highest level.
Hakimi himself played down the idea that this was the biggest night of his career, according to reports in France, and said he feels fully recovered from his earlier injury problems.
PSG Win Without Their Big Names
The scoreline is even more impressive given who was missing. Ousmane Dembele (thigh), Marquinhos (thigh) and Nuno Mendes (muscle) are all out for a few weeks, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia faces a long spell on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury. Luis Enrique also rotated heavily with a Champions League trip on Tuesday in mind.
Young players stepped up again. Mayulu and Godts both scored, just as they did in the 2-0 win over Lyon last weekend, which shows the depth this squad now has.
What It Means for the Ligue 1 Table
- PSG: 1st, 20 points from 9 games
- Le Havre: bottom, 2 points
For Le Havre the picture is bleak. They have only two points after nine matches and conceded five at home to a weakened PSG side. Their next league game is at home to Lorient on Sunday 8 November.
